This feature was produced by Miriam Widman in May 2005. Her piece describes the struggle to stop a Walmart from being built in Cedar Mill on the outskirts of NW Portland. The Walmart was voted down by the Beaverton City Council in the summer of 2006. Now the community is trying to ensure that another big box store does not take its place. These photos show a strip mall across the street from the proposed Walmart, on land owned by the Petercort family, who also own the land where Walmart wanted to build.
